Welcome to the practice web site

Welcome to Blackheath Medical Centre. I am particularly pleased to introduce you to the other members of the team at Blackheath, Mrs Jenny Flower, Mrs Rebecca Perkin, Mrs Kath Humphries, Mrs Penny Angill, Nurse Caroline Mellon, Nurse Norma Joy, Dr Kirsten Duncan and Dr Liz Hare.

Nurse Mellon previously worked on the Renal Unit at Arrowe Park Hospital and joined the Blackheath team during 2002. Nurse Joy joined us during 2003 as our triage nurse. She has also worked for NHS Direct.

Jenny Flower, Rebecca Perkin, Kath Humphries and Penny Angill manage the office for us and will typically be your first point of contact with the practice. With the help of computer software they play an important role in monitoring patients needing regular lab tests.

Those of you on regular medications can still order your repeat prescriptions by telephone. We have arranged collection services with a number of local pharmacies. For other pharmacies, if you give us some stamped addressed envelopes, we can post your prescription to them. Ask when you order your repeat prescription.
You can also order your prescriptions online by visiting our prescription order form and those of you with mobile 'phones can now use them to request repeat medications by SMS "texting".

We hope you find the various health related calculators useful. The pregnancy calculator gets the most hits every week from users all round the world. A number of other practices from all corners of the UK link to our heart disease risk calculator. In December 2004 we added the World Health Organisation Audit alcohol questionnaire to the site.

Blackheath Medical Centre is a modern building with good car-parking and easy access for patients with mobility problems. I look forward to welcoming you there.
